In France’s venture landscape, gender equality remains a work in progress. While there has been increasing recognition of the importance of diversity, women-led startups still face challenges in accessing funding compared to their male counterparts.
Initiatives like government-backed funds and private sector programs are emerging to support female entrepreneurs and bridge the investment gap. Despite these efforts, more needs to be done to foster an environment where women have equal opportunities to succeed in the startup ecosystem.
In 2023,
- Female-founded startups in France received €1.7 billion across 276 deals;
- The average Series C funding round for female-founded companies was £68.42 million, marking a 45% increase from the previous year;
- Female (GPs) raised £3.76 billion, a 76% YOY increase.
Despite this progress, female founders in Europe, including Paris, raised approximately 1.8% of the total VC capital in 2023. In Paris, in an era where innovation drives economic growth, the tech-driven nature of AI fits well with the current investment climate and the current AI investment trends in France highlight a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and democratization of AI technology.
