WHO WE ARE

At Nordic Impact Funds, we believe in business-driven impact. We want to alleviate poverty in an economically sustainable way where impact and financial return goes hand in hand. We target businesses where positive social impact for low-income households is the result of commercial success and an embedded part of the business model Ð either by creating opportunities for raising long term income or by the provision of new, affordable and highly needed products or services. As an example, we invest in agri-businesses that are linking small holder farmers to a commercial value chain and we invest in companies providing basic services like water, sanitation etc. As a gender smart investor, we want to create both jobs and income for women at the base of the pyramid and strengthen gender diversity in the management of the companies we invest in.

Tharald Nustad is founder at Nordic Impact. He is a tech entrepreneur and investor focusing on impact technology. He works closely with Ashoka helping social entrepreneurs, and leads Mallin, a family office focusing on Impact real estate development and investing in impact funds. Tharald is founder and chairman of Plastilin, an incubator that starts, develops and invests in tech and communication businesses. He also invests in early stage impact startups with a tech foundation through his personal investment arm Nordic Impact.

TBDF Ventures LLC (TBDFV), the organizer of Beyond The Billion (BTB), is a company serving the global consortium of investors pledged to invest beyond $1bn collectively into women-founded technology companies and funds and firms that invest in them. BTB builds on the success of The Billion Dollar Fund for Women, the initial campaign co-founded by our founders.
