Who we are
Polymath Ventures builds and invests in technology companies that serve Latin America’s emerging middle class and SMBs because it represents a unique opportunity to both generate above-market returns and generate significant social impact. Latin America’s middle class, with a population of 300M+ and $4T of spending power, remain underserved by formal business, representing a massive opportunity. Polymath Venture Seed Fund I invests in proprietary builds at the Pre-Seed stage (~30% of capital) and external companies at the Seed stage (~70% of capital). We will invest in ~20 companies across Fintech, Healthtech and Vertical SaaS. We lead Pre-Seed and Seed stage rounds, filling a major gap in the Latin American VC ecosystem.

Why are we taking the Beyond The Billion Pledge?
Despite women's central role in Latin American society, they are underserved by formal businesses, making them one of the best levers to transform the region. 70% of consumer spending decisions are made by women. They are also the primary health and education influencers. 28% of LatAm households are single-women head of households, compared to 28% globally. Women display 20% better payment behavior versus men, showing their distinct social role. However 54% of women in Latin America have informal jobs, leading to less predictable incomes and no benefits (pension, health, etc.). For these reasons, Polymath promotes female founders & companies that support women. Polymath’s previous portfolio is >50% female-founded and/or ventures that focus on women’s work. We are targeting a portfolio threshold of 50% for the Polymath Ventures Seed Fund I.
After 10 years, we have seen the value of women as the centerpiece of our companies and their products, as well as a source of exceptional talent. Ana Barrera, Co-Founder & CEO of Aflore, is an example. Ana joined Polymath in 2013 and has led Aflore since 2014. 60% of Aflore’s 37,500 clients are women, compared to a market where the majority of loans are given to men. Natalie Copuroglu, who joined Polymath in 2019 as Business Designer, led an investigation into health, which transformed into Tani, where she is currently Founder & CEO.
